Johns Hopkins Eliminates Randolph-Macon in Slugfest

(DANVILLE, VA) - The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays staved off elimination Thursday afternoon with a 13-8 win over Randolph-Macon College in game four of the NCAA South Regional, held in Danville, VA at American Legion Memorial Post 325 Stadium at Dan Daniel Park.

Down five runs going into the bottom of the sixth, the Yellow Jackets (25-17) rallied to even the score at seven. JHU (35-6) responded with four scores in the top half of the seventh, which proved to be enough for the victory.

Right fielder Brian Youchak, who finished the game 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI, also blasted a two-run homer in the top of the ninth, led Hopkins. Todd Emr, Rob Pietroforte, Tony Margve and Matt Benchener also each had two hits in the winning effort.

Charlie Hartt and Jay Lichter, who each ended with three hits, paced Randolph-Macon offensively.

The Blue Jays advance to play in game eight of the tournament, which will begin at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon with opponent still to be determined. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are eliminated from post-season play.
